3 ways to wear an Eighties legend
Let’s kick things off with a really strong piece. Just look at this baby! I have to admit to being influenced by Instagram to a certain extent on this one. But that’s not always such a bad thing. In fact, Instagram can be a great place to start when it comes to vintage shopping! I found the link to the Stunning Vintage shop on an Instastory and this gem just stood out as I scrolled through the styles in their online shop. It can be a bit of a gamble to order vintage online but I honestly find that 9 times out of 10, it’s one that pays off.
This is one of those times, you guys! In a silky mustard yellow pattern with a polka dot texture, this dress is instantly going to brighten up the day of all who behold it. It’s definitely an oversized fit but I kind of love that. And the epic shoulder pads and frills down the button placket add major Eighties vibes. In fact, I spotted a dead ringer for it (in blouse form) on the latest season of Stranger Things. So let’s take a look at how to style this guy.
1. Casual
First up is day-to-day styling. I paired my new find with a mustard jumper for a tone-on-tone look. This is such a simple way to create a really modern feel. I added my favourite denim jacket for a warm outer layer and a pair of autumnal lace-up boots to finish things off.
In terms of accessories, this piece really lends itself well to beautiful gold, rose gold, brown and berry shades, so it’s perfect for autumn.

Top tip: let the cuff of your shirt peek through at the wrist for an extra detail
2. Work
It has to be said, this piece does give me secretary vibes, but that doesn’t mean you can’t upgrade it to a girl boss look! The key to that for me is the blazer. The one I chose here creates a really clash against the dress and that’s what makes this outfit so bold and strong. I added a belt just to pull the whole thing together as well as throwing all my work essentials in my cross-body bag. And I’m ready to get shit done!
3. Party
Styling this one was so easy. I just love the mustard shade combined with black. And you can really never go wrong with a leather jacket. I added some chunky lace-up boots and a berry lip, and I was good to go! This colour is just amazing for a night out as it stands out so much in a crowd. I really just let the dress speak for itself here.
Perhaps you wouldn’t immediately think night out with the long sleeve and midi-length skirt of this dress, but the shiny texture is actually perfect for parties – and the full skirt is just waiting to take a spin on the dancefloor!

Fun fact: I wore this to see the band Neufundland. Check them out here!
So there we have it! 3 ways to style an Eighties legend. What do you think of these looks? Do you have any 80s legends in your wardrobe?
